* Discography & recordings
- Wilhelm Backhaus(2)
from
Chabrier to Weber
- This
discography is imperfect because my source is much
restricted. I have little information on and
Decca monaural Beethoven Sonatas. Any information
will be welcomed. (Recording data not in this
page, broadcast recording, or other rare
CDs.....)
- Album numbers are
linked to the jacket images in case I can get
them.
- I tried to include
recently available CDs first in this page, but I excluded most of all items from
such labels as Iron Needle, Enterprise, etc. If you'd like to know the reason,
see Hall of Shame.
- Decca/London LP 'LL... LXT...'
series are monaural.
- Japanese CD issues ; EMI
TOCE..., Shinseido..., London POCL.../ KI...., DG

- Special thanks to Mr.
Jui-Yuan
Yen, Philip Stuart for his marvelous Decca
recordings catalog, of course also to
the owner of mikrokosmos.com who offered me the
hosting space.

- Notes
- Decca's
limited edition "The Complete
Backhaus"(46 LPs) are excluded due
to the lack of data.
- In the
Philips/Decca online catalogue, the
recording dates of Philips 456 718-2(20th
century pianist series issue) is wrong.
This issue contains all of the Carnegie
Hall recital(30th Mar. 1954) and Brahms'
Piano Concerto No.2 with
Schuricht(studio, May 1953).
- I saw
many recording infos at this link(Frank
Forman's comment) from the Decca's set,
but did not accept them as the first
priority due to many disaccordances
between the sources though it has
relatively higher crebility.
