* Discography & Recordings - Wilhelm Furtwängler(1)
      from J.S.Bach to Beethoven

  • This discography is modified version of that originally compiled and updated by Zoltán ROCKENBAUER (CD section) and Károly DÁN (LP section) after John Hunt and René Trémine's Furtwängler Discography, under approval by Mr. DÁN.
  • See original ; Discography of WILHELM FURTWÄNGLER'S RECORDINGS
  • The aim and change of my modification of the original is ;
    1. Composer/works shortcut ; for easier browsing of this catalogue
    2. Deleting the info of some European labels(see the 'Hall of shame' page) and Hunt's discography number
    3. Adding new releases not included in the originals ; release after 1999 by Tahra, EMI, DG, and JP companies
    4. Adding infos of the recording producer / engineer
    5. Correction of some errors in original
  • Album numbers are linked to the jacket images in case I can get them.
  • I tried to include recently available CDs first in this page, but I excluded most of all items from such labels as Iron Needle, Enterprise, etc. If you'd like to know the reason, see Hall of Shame.
  • JP local issues ; EMI TOCE..., London POCL..., KI...., DG POCG.... UCCG...., , Archiv POCA...., Philips PHCP.... , Sony SRCR... , BMG BVCC..., Testament UCCN.... Warner WPCC.... , Refrain, King records, Seven Seas, Nippon Columbia(Denon)
  • Korean local issues ; OE...(Oasis records of EMI license), DG RG... (Seong-Eum records)
  • Abbreviations
    • Nations; US(United states of America), DE(Germany), FR(France), IT(Italy), AU(Australia), NZ(New Zealand), JP(Japan), KR(Korea), ARG(Argentina)
    • AS; Electronically reprocessed stereo
  • Notes ; all of these are live recording unless there are any mention.
  • Any suggestion will be welcomed.
  • Of course also thanks so much to the owner of mikrokosmos.com who offered me the hosting space.

                1. The original master tape includes the noise of the audiences, the sound of Furtwängler's step to
                    podium, and applause before beginning this performance. Some LP versions did not cut these,
                    but all the international CD versions CUT except several Toshiba releases. But Toshiba's release
                    TOCE 3007(p. 1996) cut them, TOCE 55701 not. Korean licence LPs by Oasis Record(after
                    Toshiba masters) included them.
