* Discography & recordings - Zino Francescatti

  • This discography is imperfect because my source is much restricted. I have little information on his recordings outside Sony label. Any information will be welcomed. (Recording data not in this page, broadcast recording, or other rare CDs.....)
  • Japanese CD issues ; EMI TOCE..., London POCL..., KI...., DG POCG.... UCCG...., , Archiv POCA...., Philips PHCP.... , Sony 25DC .... , SRCR... , BMG BVCC..., Testament UCCN.... Warner WPCC....
  • Korean issues ; DG RG...., Decca RD.... Philips RP.... (LP), JC KJCL... (LP) / KJCK...(Tape), Sony CCK...(CD)
  • Columbia ML LP series are monaural releases.
  • If possible, I excluded items from such labels as Dante/LYS, Iron Needle, Enterprise, etc. If you'd like to know the reason, see Hall of Shame.
  • Special thanks to Mr. Marc van Bemmel. Of course also thanks so much to the owner of mikrokosmos.com who offered me the hosting space.

    • Mr. Marc van Bemmel ; His contribution on this page is very important. Many infos on LPs including Double LPs by Columbia(R.Casadesus Association)
    • M. Jean-Michel Molkhou ; the data of several early recordings with Artur Balsam, Max Lanner, and Smith.
    • Mr. Henry Fogel's record collections ; several LPs
    • Mr. J.A.Lee ; limited LP edition(Matrix no. XTV22291 and XTV22292) for the foundation of the American Library in Paris. In this LP's Liner notes ; "Mr. Casadesus and Mr. Francescatti have made this record so that its sale might benefit the work of the American Library in Paris... Only 2,760 copies of this record have been printed and the record-master destroyed; the artists will not record these works again."
      ps] I have this record at the present time(2010), of which backcover note says "On November 30th 1954 the 'Hommage à Chausson' by Robert Casadesus had its world premiere in New York at Carnegie Hall. Mr. Casadesus and Mr. Francescatti ahd been asked to give a benefit performance for the American Library in Paris. These artists together with the Guilet Quartet agreed, and decided to give this concert in honor of the French composer Ernest Chausson." Chausson's Concerto was recorded on the next day of the concert, therefore I think the works might be recorded on the same day.
